I've been growing with Aerogarden for a couple of years now, because we have them at the retirement facility where I work. I grew this seed kit there last year, and had OK results with it, but I didn't really follow all the directions. The directions aren't hard or complicated, but you MUST follow them if you want maximum results. Thinning the sprouts so that only one plant grows in each pod, pruning them at 4-5 weeks, trimming dead leaves, pollinating, etc.
Anyway, I'm finally growing these at home for myself. I planted them the day after Christmas and now today, exactly 2 months after, I have 5 small green tomatoes and a TON of flowers! The guide says it doesn't usually make fruit for 12-16 weeks so we are ahead of schedule. That's because this time around I did everything like I was supposed to. I am so excited about having my first harvest.
One thing I would recommend is to buy the extended season fertilizer tablets. It takes 3 months on average to get tomatoes, but you only get 4 months of fertilizer. My tomato plant at work was still thriving 6 months later even though I had run out of fertilizer; that is, it was alive but wasn't making tomatoes because it didn't have any nutrients. So this time around I prepared ahead and bought the extra tablets. We'll see how long I can get tomatoes out of this plant! I love aerogardening!

I have wanted one of these for a long time and finally bought one. I am a chocolatier by trade but love the passion of food and growing my own. This is perfect and so fun to use. I am thrilled about watching my veggies grow and more excited on how they taste with my favorite dishes. I recommend this to everyone. Even if your thumb is not green.

My daughter and I are having lots of fun with this kit. We have learned loads that we plan to apply to our next kit. The pruning recommendations in the manual are crucial for best results. Two of our plants have totally crowded out the third, but that was our own fault for not doing the required pruning. Two of our plants have oodles of flowers and tomatoes growing. The flowers are super easy to polinate - just give the plants a hearty shake once or twice a day and you're done. Your plants are pregnant! We're currently anxiously waiting for the tomatoes to ripen so we can start eating them. It certainly feels like it takes forever. I wish there were more packs of nutrients included in the kit. I don't see an "extended season" option for cherry tomatoes even though that is what is pictured when you select any of the other extended season products.

I just bought my aero garden at the end of Oct. 2008. I now have small cherry tomatos that are still green so we are still waiting for them to ripen. I think it is very fun to watch them grow. The only con is they are not attractive to look at and they smell especially when cut or when you need to pollinate them. I can't wait to try the flowers or the herbs.
