I started with a classic aerogarden given to me as a gift from my mother because I cook so much and was constantly running to the store to buy herbs. I was hooked after the first harvest! I still have the classic overflowing with fresh salad regularly along with a space saver 6 where I grow my herbs, a ladybug 3 pod filled with scented blooms, and my newest addition and new favorite the pro 200 where my tomatoes are growing and I am filled with excitement about the idea of having fresh from the vine tomatoes to use for my pasta sauce! I thought my others had the plants growing fast, but I am blow away by the quick growth and quality of plant coming from the Pro200. I would recommend to anyone and everyone and will definately be buying another in the near future for my bell peppers

I first planted a couple of the prepared seed pods and then planted my own seeds. My first pleasant surprise was the quietness of the motor. The next was how easy everything was to set up with no hassle at all. After that 'Amazing!" is the only word to describe what happened. My plants are only 2.5 weeks old but the growth has been very fast, my basil sprouted over- night. I'm sooo happy with my AeroGarden, I can't wait to get another one.

This was a gift to my wife for Christmas and we are both having a great time watching the herbs grow so fast. I reset the lights once, very easy to do, so that they turn off from noon to about 8PM. We could not be more thrilled with the Pro 200! We started our 1st Tomato crop on Christmas day and in just 12 days we have 2-3" plants!!! I love this product. From day three when my first sprouts were starting to show i have never looked back. I love the fact that i can pick fresh herbs for all my cooking and not depend on super market herbs that are over priced or in poor condition. The best part is i can grow anything in the aerogarden with out the worries of insects, rodents, and the occasional deer that love to feast on my outdoor garden. No more playing around with fences, coyote urine, and pesticides. With the aerogarden i can do everything inside with little matinence. The results are fantastic and very appetizing.

This was the 4th garden I've purchased for a gift after having received one as a gift. I got the top of the line for my mother. She's quite the chef and loves fresh herbs but hates to buy a bundle and then have the majority go to waste. I set the garden up for her and the next time I was at her house all the pods had taken off. She's 85 and not real good about following directions but has been doing the few things that need to be done. I would like to get myself this unit as I'm growing cherry tomatoes now and the light does not go up high enough. I would like to grow herbs and tomatoes at the same time so two gardens work for me.

We switched to organic and this has saved us so much money. I love being able to pick fresh herbs from my kitchen counter when I am cooking. My unit was everything that was advertised...I'm very pleased. I did utilize the tip about removing one of the bulbs and that heled me produce strong stems. All in all I'm very pleased and will buy another for starting flowers in the spring. I can't wait to enjoy garden fresh tomatoes in December!!!

Our "Initial Growth" light just came on yesterday, and so far, it has been both a pleasure and a learning experience. Because I could not find a kit with the exact mix of herbs I use the most, I opted for the 7-pod Custom Kit. Of the seven pods, only four were marked with "Tall" or "Short" indications, but, because I am no stranger growing herbs, I knew where to place the unmarked pods. The next mystery was with respect to the Nutrient Packs, where all written instructions mention two (2) TABLETS, but we had packets containing LIQUID without instructions. Getting back to the actual plants, our two species of basil, Genovese and Lemon were, as expected, the first plants to germinate. Unfortunately, they also seemed to "bolt", literally overnight (we have the lights out for 6 hours per day) and then two of the three stems in the Genovese pod became limp. Looking, I discovered the stems were black and rotting. So, not only was it necessary to clip them back before I would have liked (there we not enough support leaves leaves to comfortably do this, nor was there enough basil to make a difference in any recipe) but then, within a day I also lost all but one stem. As I type I have a very sad little, single stem Genovese basil pod with several, tiny, little leaves - and I am simply hoping for the best. The other disappointment has been that only one Cilantro plant germinated and it was so spindly at the base that it lay flat atop the AeroGarden base; I had to put in a toothpick and tie lightly with string to give it support lest it also expire. In the future, I will put in the slower growing plants a few days before the quicker variety, which may give the slower plants a chance to catch hold before the more aggressive plants begin to cheat them of light and space. I have not yet figured out what caused the limpness and rotting, but also, have not lost heart, as I feel it might just be a matter of getting more accustomed to aero gardening. And, it may also be a matter of calling AeroGarden for clear instructions on using liquid vs tablets. And it is an attractive machine, and a quiet one, and I have enjoyed outstanding Customer Support from the AeroGarden Staff.

I broke my neck and had a stoke after the oporation to fix it. I has not aloud to have a garden out side anymore. after i bought my frist garden to grow herb and my family saw how much i enjoyed it (and helped with my depress) they help me buy more gardens until I felt like I had my old garden back. Now I grow my own lettes, green beans, cherry tomotos, cumber, bell pepers, hot pepper. i even got a smal pumkin once. no one will ever understand how much my gardes mean to me, I wish I could thank the man who invented them. and tell him how much he has help me .

Here's an update to my Jan. review. I've been eating salads and/or using the lettuce for hamburgers for close to 2mo. now. My herbs have gone wild. They grow so fast that I have to trim them almost everyday. I've been giving some of the herbs away as I have too much for just my family. My tomato plants each have about 10 or more green tomatoes, and the pepper plant has lots of peppers starting to grow.:) I actually did not have to "prune" the tomato/pepper plants. They started branching off very early on and started flowering by 5wks. I just ordered the "Deal of the Day" which was a red/black 3 pod aerogarden. I can't wait to put it on my bar counter and grow fresh flowers.:)

I have purchased two Aerogardens; the Pro 200 and the 6. I planted both of them right after the New Year and they are doing great! Easiest gardening I've done. Simple to set up and get started. The aerogarden does all the work for you. All you have to do is add nutrients and water. My mega cherry tomatoe plants are growing like crazy, plush, green and healthy. I can see the difference every day. They're drinking so much water, I have to add water every day. I'm very surprised at how fast these plants are growing. And the best part is, I've got it set up in my office and growing during the winter. I'll be eating tomatoes from these plants before I even get to plant the outdoor garden. No doubt I'll be buying a few more aerogardens before next winter.

I got the Classic for Christmas. I planted the Salad greens, and they are about a week away from harvesting. I've been quite pleased with how fast they are growing. I was so pleased with the concept and after reading all the responses on this website that I decided to buy 2 of the Pro 200's. I have the Salsa kit growing in one(sprouted within 3 days), and I have herbs growing in the other. The herb kit is the Chef package with 14 seed pods. I was a bit disappointed that the Cilantro was missing(Thai Basil instead), but Aerogarden is sending me a Cilantro. From the kit, I did use the Genovese Basil, Lemon Basil, Thyme, Parsley, Oregano, Epazote, and Chives. It has been 7 days and all but the Parsley and Chives have sprouted. The Basils are really taking off. I figure the 2 that haven't sprouted yet, will do so in the next day or so as they do take longer to germinate.

I can't wait until I can harvest everything. It will be so nice to have fresh herbs for my cooking, and a fresh salad. I'm especially excited about the Salsa kit. I can't wait until I can make Salsa and Pico with fresh ingredients. We have a "wine" room that was currently a catch all. My husband cleaned it out and built me some shelves to put the Aerogardens on. This is working out great. The light from all 3 reflect off the white walls and back onto the plants. We also placed some aluminum foil across the front so less light is lost and reflected back in. We did make sure to allow for efficient air flow around the plants. I will have to post again when they are much further along and with pics as soon as I can figure out how to do that.:)

I have other original aerogardens. I couldn't believe how much faster the plants grow in the Pro series garden. I planted tomatoes in 2 gardens at the same time and one was an original with extended lamp arm, the other was pro 200. The plants were more than 2x bigger at 3 weeks. I just couldn't believe it!! If I were getting any new gardens, they would certainly be the pro series gardens.

I just ordered my second Pro 200 and have plans to order more in the future. I eat a lot of organic vegetables and the Aero Garden will pay for itself in no time. Well it started with a Classic, then another one, then a Pro 100 and a 200, a Deluxe...then a Elite and one on the way and a Ladybug too!! Green beans, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, herbs and peppers, it has all grown well and lasted long. This by far has been one of the most positive products I have ever had. I live in Alaska and having this is so nice for the winter. Too many slugs and bugs in the summer. Aerogarden has been the Best company to work with. THEY ACTUALLY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I gave the AeroGarden Pro200 to my wife for Christmas (holding my breath) hoping she would like it. She loves it!! She would come home on weekends from the supermarket with the market-sized bunches of basil, parsley, cilantro and various others depending on what she wants to cook for the week. But the waste of unusable remaining portions after a week or so, was very discouraging. I am a life member of Cooking Club of America and have seen the AeroGarden ad. Viola! Let’s try it. We started our garden Christmas afternoon. She looks at it as her nursery. I look at it as a horse race. As of Jan 5, only 10 days later, Italian Basil is already up over an inch and bushy with Purple Basil a close second with Thyme a strong third. I’ve named Parsley, “Beetle Bomb”, (that dates me) ‘cause he’s not out of the gate yet. Well, yeah, it says he’s a slow starter. My wife calls it Patience. Many people complain about the light but it is a great nightlight or you can change the light cycle start time. This is not a big deal.

I gave the aerogarden pro 200 to my husband for Christmas last year. Being an avid gardener, it was definately his best gift ever. I bought this Aerogarden for my son. I didn't like what I was seeing in the economy and wanted to secure a sustainable food source. This wouldn't get me where I needed to be on that, but I can teach him that he has more control over the type and quality of his food. I bought this one because it was the best one available at the time and I felt some sense of urgency to get him up and running. My survival mechanism kicked in when the economy dropped, and it strikes me that one of the reasons my Grandparents did so well in retirement is because they put up so much of their own food from the (summer) garden. But they had 80 acres of farmland and a spectacular garden. I live in an apartment. I don't own any property or see any hope of owning property and I was sick last summer so I didn't even get my seeds in the ground last summer. But, I see now that soil is not neccessarily one of the components that I would need. I think it helped me understand that even though I lost about half of my retirement now, there is still some hope that I can have some control over my own food. I seemed to find some relief in that, BUT...it's expensive. I couldn't do it all at once on my budget. I remember what I saw with my grandparents, but I'm not sure my son would remember any of that. It seems like something that I need to teach him before it is forgotten. I thought people might feel more secure if they could see food growing in their own house. Fluorescents are nice for growing in your living space. It's not like the old days when they didn't work. They actually work now.

I think this was a great starter step. When I started looking into hydroponics (and aeroponics) more seriously, I was glad that I had this step first. One, it made me realize how much is really going on in this aerogarden and how much is coordinated in one unit. And second because I have a better idea of what it will take to take this to a larger scale. Everytime I started to get confused with product overload, I could think back to what I was doing with the Aerogarden. I am glad that I started with small successes. It helped me grow.

The herbs were doing great when I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I also bought my son an elite 6 plus because the tank design is different (he did say that the Pro200 is quieter than the Elite 6 plus). I wanted to avoid the problems mentioned in previous posts of roots getting sucked into the motor so I also bought the elite 6 plus. But all of the models that we have are thriving. My son has fabulous looking tomatoes in his Elite 6 plus. I have two refurbished classics that I found at TJ MAXX. They work great...never had any problems. I like how they look. (One yellow tomato didn't germinate, but the others look great.) I also have an elite 6 space saver with lettuce. I have eaten one salad and I can see that its going to grow back rapidly.

Personally, I like the larger watering hole on the classics, elite 6, elite 6 plus, and even the three pod...my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. You get a little more pouring space with those. I have to get out a little flashlight to see the fill line in the elite 6 space saver (corner model). My mom just bought a 3 pod for flowers and that looks/works great. All systems are up and running. I love them. I would highly recommend this to friends and family just so they can see what this is all about and to get the big concepts of what can be grown with what, that pH matters (water quality matters - use distilled water), timing of light, nutrients, and all of those things.

I did make the move to larger systems after that and currently have peas, beans, tomatoes, peppers, and a cucumber growing in the closet. I have to admit...there's a learning curve (and expense) when you start looking at larger equipment. It makes you appreciate what you have with this little device. I was frustrated enough a few times to forget that and just stick with aerogardens, but I think I really have made it to the next step now. The positive side of sticking with aerogardens is that it's MUCH safer. I have real concerns about starting my son in HID's. There is less risk of ocular damage with fluorescents, and you have to deal with so much extra heat with HID's that it really can be a hazard. My kids are gone, but I wouldn't want kids looking at HID lights, or dealing with water near high output electricity. Aerogardens seem to eliminate most of the worry about hazards for me...and I did look into them fairly seriously. I don't want to pass problems, especially health problems, on to my family or friends. If I could have afforded it, I would have stuck with Aerogardens, but I couldn't. I really am worried that people are going to have problems finding/paying for high quality food.

I think you could supplement a diet with aerogardens. The problem really is that it would take so many and they are expensive. They have the right concept. But, I don't think my son would have been able to afford them...and at times I'm not sure I can.

One thing we are all still waiting for is strawberries...they were still in development last I heard.

This unit is expensive, especially compared to the price of the produce you will grow. But it is a PERFECT substitute for a garden when it is twenty below zero outside. The hardest part of setting up the AeroGrow was finding just the right space. Even though I had broken my ankle and was on crutches, the AeroGrow was easy to set up. Sprouts for the herbs have already started in 3 days, which is even lesss time than indicated on the pods. The grow lights are a good night light for the hallway, but are pretty bright!!

I love having fresh herbs in the house. In the winter, herbs are expensive in the grocery stores. I have very few good windows for growing and I have cats that get into everything. It's too soon to say, but 6 of the 7 herbs are growing nicely. The parsley hasn't even sprouted and it has been over 2 weeks. Overall pleased with product thus far. Basically, it's terrific - no dirt, no mess. I'm growing herbs, I use basil alot and it's growing beautifully. As is the parsley, mint, thyme and dill. The chives failed to come up but everything else is doing fine.

The only thing that isn't so great is the light system. It's supposed to shut off for 8 hours. I would turn it off at 11 p.m. and it would turn itself on at 5 a.m., a little too early to wake up. I started unplugging it at night and plugging it back in in the morning.

Can't wait to use my basil!

I tried growing Heirloom tomatoes this year, but didn't have much luck, due to the unusually short growing season, in the Pacific Northwest. When I heard that you can take cuttings from your plants and grow them indoors, I took a cutting from each one of them and popped them into my AeroGarden Pro 200. They are growing like crazy! I have two and am ordering two more. This year I purchased the auxiliary growing trays that hold 70 plants in the same set up. WOW!! 140 plants and no mess! Before Aerogrow, in order to start seedlings for my garden I had to use, and heat! a greenhouse, spend countless hours fertilizing, watering, etc. Aerogrow does it all - I purchased my first Aerogrow for salads, etc. In our Maine winters, I had fresh lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Friends were astounded at the size and flavor of my Aerogrow veggies. I absolutely love my AeroGarden Pro 200. I purchased one last year at Christmas time. They were out of stock, so I didn't receive mine until January or February. It was easy to set up and easy to use. All you have to do is add water and nutrients when required. So far I've planted the salad greens. They were fantastic. I also purchased the tomatoes, green beans, and romaine kits and can hardly wait to try them. One of the best features of this device is that the vegetables are free of insects, pesticides, etc. When my greens were ready, all I had to do was pick them, put them in my salad and enjoy! I loved being able to pick the greens fresh from the AeroGarden and put them right in my salad. I especially liked not having to wash the leaves first (no chemicals or pesticides to worry about!). The more you pick, the more it grows. I had salad greens for about 3 months. At first, I mainly bought the AeroGarden because I wanted produce during the winter months. In the summer, I grow a vegetable garden in my backyard. However, growing a garden outdoors is much more work. With the cost of everything rising in the grocery store, being able to grow my own lettuce, tomatoes, green beans, etc. year round seemed like a no brainer. In fact, that's why I just purchased a second AeroGarden Pro 200 and may get another one. I also enjoy watching it grow and because of the special lights and the amount of time your garden is exposed to the light, it grows much faster than outdoors. I have told so many people about the AeroGarden and how great it is! Get one -- you won't regret it!!

We have a couple of these Pro 200's. They work as advertised, however, some seed selections come out better then others. For example in the herb kit your basil will grow out of control while the parsley tries to catch-up. Its a competition for light, so its important to keep each seed pod trimmed to about the same height. The units are more suited to herbs and lettuce. I would not recommend vegetables such as tomatoes due to the physical requirements they need. Overall a great product and is highly recommended.
