It's great to be able to consume small portions without the expensive cost of gourmet greens. They always go bad too quickly for a single portion household. Downside- inconsistent and unreliable sprouting of seeds. Hit or miss.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

Bottom line: We love salads! The AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack has been great, and it provides ample delicious lettuce and mixed salad greens for nearly a daily harvest! We have really noticed the taste difference from store-bought greens, and they just don't get any fresher, from garden to table in less than five minutes! We were sceptics about whether it could support our salad "habit" at first, but now longer. Easy care and long growth rate, this has been our favorite of many AeroGarden crops!!!

We started our salad garden just prior to the "snowmagedon" that hit the East. The growing plants are a welcome site in comparison to the 30 inches of snow (now ice) outside.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

My sister started me with a 6 pod AeroGarden and now I have 3 6'ers and 3 3'ers that I keep going year round. Having the different lettuces at my fingertips for salads is wonderful! I use one of the 3'ers to keep me supplied in arugula and am now one happy indoor camper! I have referred AeroGarden products to many of my family and friends, even going so far as to take pictures and send them the progress every two weeks!

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

Love the salad mixes, perfect for two people. However lately it seems we are getting some hit or miss problems. This kit comes with 14 pods, for two seasons. I put 7 pods in, including two (of the three) arugula. The other lettuces are growing like gangbusters, but the arugula started to grow, then stopped and died. I just pulled the greens (or should I say browns) out and covered them with the plastic tops. I should probably call for replacements but by the time I gave up on them, they would have been so far behind the others anyway, I don't know if it's worth it. I was looking forward to the arugula in the mix though.

Fresh Salad Greens
By CrisVerified Purchaser from Carbondale, Il on 10/15/2009
Pros:

Cons:
Messy, Plants Go Bad Quickly
Best Uses:
City Living, Large Kitchens, Small Kitchens

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

The lettuces don't last as long as the other greens, such as mizuna and arugula. The lettuces bolt faster and the long (bolting) stems are easily traumatized so that at the end of the kit one is left only with the non-lettuce greens. However, it is still fun and worth having.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

I like the variety of the chef's pack. It is so nice to just pick a handful for a sandwich. There is enough growth to harvest a couple of salads every few days. And I don't have to worry about cleanliness of the harvest or shipping. But the best thing is not having to pay shipping when ordering this item.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

I live alone and can't eat all that lettuce in the bag or on the head or in the bunch at the store. I like a variety, too. It's a waste to buy so much at the store and end up throwing it away. I live in lower Alabama where the climate is too hot to grow lettuce except a couple of months in the spring and late fall. Even then the leaves can get tough and bitter. With AeroGarden the hydroponically grown lettuce is so sweet and tender the crisp little leaves just burst in your mouth. I don't know what I ever did without it. And the Salad Chef Pack gives me the variety I like, a soft base of Romaine with a bite of Mescal.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

21 days last night and I made my first salad. I could have cut some before but it looked so great I didn't want to screw it up but already today it looks all filled in and tomorrow I will eat some more. My Aerogarden was so easy to set up and it sprouted in just days. I was so hooked I ordered a second to start tomatos. It's 7 days for them and they are up about an inch. I also wanted herbs in kitchen so I ordered a little 3 pod at the same time, it fits nice in small kitchen and those little plants are coming right up too after only 7 days. This is so much fun, so easy to care for and the Romaine and salad greens tasted just great. I really will love having fresh salad makings without visting the store all the time. I am thinking of getting a 4th to start Morningglory seeds to replant in spring, last year I paid [$]a pot, then I can grow twice as much lettuce when they go outside.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

I really have enjoyed the variety of lettuce with the salad chef pack. My husband and I enjoy our aerogarden very much. I don't like the tast of arugula, but that is my personal preference--it grows very well and is abundant. The only problem I have had with any of the lettuce packs is that fungus grows on the stems. I have tried to clean them with peroxide, but it comes back. I have also removed the dead leaves and seeds, but it still comes back. I am careful to clean my aerogarden, but I didn't have fungus with other plant packs.

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

I've tried the herbs (loved them, however parsley and cilantro never grew), and tomatoes and peppers (never fruited), but the lettuce tastes a bit off to me. It seems too soft and "fluffy" and not at all crunchy. But it grows fast, and looks lovely.

We have three Aero Gardens on a three-shelf wall unit. The Salad Chef Pack allows us to keep a variety of salad greens going all the time by starting a new set as another set is done producing. Currently we have two gardens with salad greens (started a few weeks apart) and the third is planted with herbs. Great versatility!

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

I started growing my Salad Chef Pack about two weeks ago so I haven't had the opportunity to have a salad quite yet. The greens however are just beautiful. The leaves are a variety of shapes and sizes which makes it very enjoyable to look at.

This is only my second time using my Aero Garden. My first experience was the Salad Greens kit. That was fantastic and my harvest lasted for 3 months!

The Salad Chef Pack was just what I wanted to try next in my Aero Garden and it offers an even greater variety of lettuces, plus you get enough pods for two harvests!

I love my Aero Garden!

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

Great variety and longevity! We grow this variety along with the Romaine, and it allows us a nice change in flavors. A good suggestion is to allow a little time span of a month between planting each, so that one has time to grow to maturity before the other dies out. We even extended the lifespan of the lettuce and feed the seeded out plants to our pet lizards. So we're getting even more use out of the product and have no waste at all. We adore the lettuce versions!

Comments about AeroGrow Salad Chef Pack (7-Pod x2):

wanted to try the lettuce pack first since we have a bountiful herb garden outdoors. The aerogarden was very easy to assemble, plant and grow. Easy to follow instruction booklet. It's really cool to watch the lettuce grow and fun to harvest however both pods of the arugula (my favorite) sprouted and then died very quickly. Also, lettuce is very soft, wilted feeling and needs to be cut, washed and refridgerated to make it crisp enough for a salad. I'm looking forward to trying the herb pack and will definitely try the cherry tomato pack, probably won't do the lettuce pack again.
