Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

This was the second set of herbs that I've tried with my Aerogrow and I've been very happy. I love cillantro so I was worried when one plant didn't grow at all and the other grew poorly. However, the rest of the herbs were wonderful. I used all of them in my day to day cooking and I've gotten spoiled with the easy access to fresh herbs. I would happily try this one again but I'm going to give the cherry tomatoes a try. "There's just two things that money can't buy and that's true love and home grown tomatoes!" Happy cooking everyone.

I planted my herbs a week and a half ago, and they are growing fast! I keep an eye on them every day; excited for when I can start harvesting them. They look really healthy and they are extremely low maintenance. I filled it with water, added nutrients and that was it! I have it touched it in a week and a half. So far so good!

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

Our utility room is the 1st room one enters from the garage. This is a great "nite lite".
I use a lot of herbs in cooking and salads. It is great being able to just snip off the amount I need as I need it. -a lot less messier that buying those big bunches at the grocery.

This selection is the only one that has had a pod that did not grow - all the others did.

Also, wish there was a dill versus that espazote.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

I harvest herbs every day. I add to my salads, and cooked vegetables. All the delicate herbs add so much to my meals, and I am not a very inventive cook. But these herbs make my cooking "seem like" I am a gourmet cook. I am on my 4th seed kit, and I recommend AeroGrow to all of my friends.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

Having two cilantro seed pods is good if you do a lot of mexican and spanish dishes. Unfortunately, I was dissapointed that one of the pods only grew one plant, so it could be fuller. The oregano grows very slow compared to the rest of the plants, but I'm hoping it will be productive soon. The thyme and basil are awesome.

Personally I love my Aerogarden! Wish there were more variety of seed kits. Have had some touble with the Cilantro but since it is my favorite I'd rather the kit include two cilantro and leave out the epazote. I have had great success with all the herb gardens purchased.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

This kit was great! My only disappointment was that my Parsley was a no-show, but I didn't need it anyway. This would be the best kit, if only they could find a way to include a Tomatio plant and a Jalapeño plant instead of Epazote... Cheers!
BTW-- My Basil's still going strong after 10 months!

I just planted these but this was the first group of herbs I tried. I reach over, pluck off leaves of the herb I want for cooking or beverage. Doesn't taste much better than this.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

When I bought my Aerogarden Pro 100 it came with a Gourmet Herb kit that advertised cilantro, which is my favorite herb. But when I got the Aerogarden in the mail, it came with a note saying that the cilantro was being replaced with thyme.[...] I cleaned out one of the sponges and put my own cilantro seeds in there and they grew beautifully in the Aerogarden. Now I see that they are selling cilantro again. I wish I know why they claimed that the cilatro wouldn't germinate.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

I love aerogrow. I thought it was kinda silly but then I got one as a gift and LOVE it. I make a lot of grilled fish with fruit salsas so I had to get the south of the border kit for all the cilantro. My only problem is my cats seem to like oregano so I had to put it up on a shelf and one day I noticed I can't see the "needs water" light from the shelf. I almost lost all my wonderful herbs.

I started kit 8 days ago and its already an inch tall. I cant wait to harvest. Summer is winding down and outdoor vegies are declining. By the time this kit is going good and producing it will be frosting outside. The best way to grow herbs and vegies! This is my 2nd kit and love it!

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

Only thing about the aero garden is i can only buy in kits, the south of the border mix was the closest to what i want but the ability to substitute or buy single items would be great. Who uses that much cilantro, and i dont even know what epazote is.

AeroGrow Response: To grow your own seeds, we recommend the Master Gardener Deluxe kit, which can be found in the Accessories section.

I love that I can grow things year round in Texas and my items don't burn up in the 100 degree weather. It is fantastic to have items fresh and you never have to worry about what is "on or in" them. The flavor is fantastic. I want more aerogardens so I never have to buy produce again!!!!

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

I feel like I'm graduating from a casual cook to a gourmet chef. I just love having the fresh herbs available at all times. I use the Herb 'n Serve and fresh herbs from this kit to make the most wonderful dressings and salads. Before having the AeroGarden I tried several times to grow herbs with no luck. They would always start to grow and then they would fizzle out. Not with the AeroGarden, I love it so much I just ordered 3 more which will bring my total to 5 AeroGardens. Now I won't have the three week down time between seasons, I can just keep alternating so I'll always have fresh herbs, peppers and lettuce.

Cilantro a no-show
By Tammy from Sarasota, FL on 7/23/2008
Pros:
Good Variety, Limited Maintenance, No Mess, Tastes Great
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

I was very excited to grow cilantro, but I was disappointed that it did not sprout at all. I bought the kit at a local gourmet shop, so I thought maybe it was my fault for not buying directly through Aerogarden. If it ever happened again, I would request a replacement. All other herbs in the kit were fine.

AeroGrow Response: We guarantee germination on all of our seek kits and seed pods. Please give our Customer Service department a call and we'll be happy to send you a replacement seed pod.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

This is the 2nd kit in a row where we've had problems with the cilantro, which is our favorite herb. Last time it grew sideways and didn't harvest much. This time neither cilantro pod even sprouted. The other 5 are doing great, though!

AeroGrow Response: We guarantee germination on all of our seed pods and seed kits. We have had to replace Cilantro with alternate seed pods to guarantee germination. Please give us a call and we'll be happy to send you a replacement.

The herb variety is great!
However, the cilantro didn't sprout. Customer service was very helpful in providing an alternative herb to replace it. I'm a little disappointed because I purchased the kit for the cilantro, but it's usually fairly inexpensive at the grocery store compared to other herbs.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

My absolute favorite herb to use cilantro, so I was very pleased to find not just one but two plants. The basil, parsley, oregano, and thyme are also great additions to my kitchen. The epazote I did not use very much in my dishes, but trying to find recipes that I can use with it; This search has very much improved my recipe repertoire.

Comments about AeroGrow South of the Border Seed Kit (7-Pod):

This is my 4th seed Kit, and I will continue to buy, trying different varieties. I bought this one because it had cilantro, but found the cilantro very difficult to grow. It was growing, but it seemed like the plant couldn't hold its own weight up as soon as it got big enough to begin smelling like cilantro (just after about 2 weeks). I had to buy another kit, and sub the ever reliable basil pods in the place of both cilantro pods.

I would recomend the aero garden to anyone, but would only recomend this seed kit to advanced gardeners, with growing experience. :)
