I don't use all seven pods when growing lettuce and was frustrated taping, moving, retaping caps over the holes so...the spacers area great addition to the set!

The spacers a such a necessity for the empty spaces. They keep the light or anything foreign from going into the bowl. It also helps to plot your indoor garden. They are relevantly inexpensive yet are constructed well and could last a lifetime.

Initially, I thought this was silly, until I grew the tomato plants. (These plugs also come with the tomato kit.) The tomatoes grew large enough that three more than filled the Aerogarden. The instructions explained that by plugging the extra holes, you kept stuff from growing in the water. I've had fish tanks, and was not happy with the assorted stuff that grew, so anything that prevents that is good with me.

We are a small family, and we aren't able to use all of the seed pods at one time. So I use the spacers to grow just a few herbs or tomato plants at a time, and it works out great!

This is just what I needed...before I was using tape over the holes...the only problem with this is that the water still drips under the hole, so there is some dripping noise, but it plugs the hole perfectly.

AeroGarden has done all the thinking for you so that you don't have to "space-out" trying to find the perfect solution for covering those unused growing holes.
The Mini Sweet Peppers that I am growing in my AeroGarden are becoming quite bushy and prolific. I was thrilled that AeroGarden began offering these plant spacers for sale. I had originally covered the holes that I wasn't growing anything in with a dark vinyl tape to allow the Mini Sweet Peppers to spread. Although the vinyl tape worked fine it just wasn't as appealing to the eye as the plant spacers. They are easy to put in and the concept of preventing algae growth with a good looking product is just a great idea!
I expect that AeroGrow will continue to provide more innovative ideas in the future!
