Just got the aerogarden and very easy to use. For some reason having this light on 11 hours a day makes me feel like my electric bills are going to be crazy. Anyone know the energy consumption of this thing?

The directions say to replace everytime you replant. My bulb has lasted much longer than that- through two plantings.

Of course, this is just a bulb and it's a required element of the AeroGarden, but I also find it makes a great nightlight in the kitchen. We used to leave the nightlight over the stove on for our cat and in case one of us sneaked into the kitchen for a midnight snack, but we have the AeroGarden bulb set to stay on during the night, so it makes one heck of a nightlight :)

The aerogarden bulbs are fantastic. I never seem to have to change them. This aerogarden bulbs seem to make the seeds sprout faster than my classic aerogarden. The aerogarden three is perfect for any small space. I am growing tomatoes in my mud room.

AeroGrow Response: Although AeroGarden Grow Bulbs will last much longer, they will lose strength after 6 months. We recommend replacing them after 6 months for larger, faster growth and more frequent harvests.
